Amelia Kngwarraye Turner is a cultural leader, Angangkere or traditional healer and artist. She has been the leader of Akeyulerre’s Healing Centre’s Angkwerre-Iweme (Traditional Healing) Project for over eight years. In 2013, she won a Natural Resource Mangament Award for a joint project with the Central Land Council on traditional ecological knowledge. Amelia was 2014 NAIDOC Person of the Year in Mparntwe Alice Springs. Her poetry is featured in Arelhekenhe Angkentye: Women’s Talk (Running Water Community Press). She is a board director for Running Water Community Press, the first ever author owned and run co-operative publisher in the world.
