She is interested in radical nostalgia, folklore, feminine monstrosity and yearning from a Filipino and Hong Kong diaspora perspective, exploring how intimacy, power and desire circulate across boundaries.
Carielyn was the recipient of the inaugural Antigone Kefala Memorial Prize; was shortlisted for the 2025 UPQ Mentorship Prize for Under-represented Writers; and was awarded the Editor’s Choice for RUSSH Magazine’s 2025 Literary Showcase.
Her videopoetry and writing have featured at Sydney Opera House, ArtsHub, Mascara Literary Review, Emerging Writer’s Festival, kindling & sage and more.
She currently does postgraduate literary studies at Western Sydney University. Carielyn’s ancestral roots are in the archipelago of the so-called Philippines and Kowloon, Hong Kong.
She currently lives, studies, works and treads respectfully on unceded Burramattagal on Dharug country.
