Formerly a Queensland cattle ringer and then a bush poet, Jimmy Hooker lived from 1983 under ‘Gum Tree 69’ on Kurinelli Station, south east of Tennant Creek, spending months at a time living alone and off the land out bush. He spends his time looking for gold, writing poetry and entertaining tourists with his stories and knowledge of bush tucker.
