Recent poetry focuses much on current struggles with oesophageal cancer, as well as long-term mental health issues, neurodivergence, performative art, the shifting seasons, and the joys of place, location, past, and future.
Hailing from Darwin, in heart if not always in body (health issues oft demand southern treatment), Jeremy has self-published three poetry collections, Waiting on Rain (2017), Red Dirt Scrawl (2022), and Dedications of Joy, of Loss (2023). Subsumed within the world of words, poetically and professionally, this syllabic self-image that considers itself sentient specialises in spur-of the moment soliloquies. Each poem is crafted within minutes of the moment of inspiration, to capture the mood-immediate, riffing off the essence of the event and following the found inherent flow to find final form. Tongue-twisters, on the other hand, are relegated to bio’s. Jeremy greets the world and its struggles with irreverence, even in light of, or perhaps especially due to, dire prognoses; while even so seeking to gift courage, strength, joy back unto the world. With every poem a candle sparks intentional, alighting hope within this darkened sphere.
