He directs Ácrux, the International Festival of Poetry and Science of the Strait of Magellan, and is a member of Casagrande, the Chilean collective behind large-scale projects such as Bombing of Poems, realized in cities including Rotterdam, Dubrovnik, Guernica, Warsaw, Berlin, London, Madrid, and Milan.
He is the author of the novel We Bombed Croatia (Alfaguara, 2014) and the nonfiction books Antarctica: No Return Guaranteed and A Journey to Cape Horn (National Library Editions, 2015–2016). His poetry was awarded the Revista de Libros Prize in 2006. He has also contributed to film soundtracks and is the lead singer of the rock band Los Muebles.
Born to parents affiliated with Chile’s Revolutionary Left Movement (MIR) and detained during the Pinochet dictatorship, Carrasco spent part of his childhood in exile in Paris and Havana. He returned to Chile in 1993 after completing engineering studies in Cuba and later pursued music composition at the University of Chile.
