Put Your Life To the Beat – Learn the basics of rap and spoken word performance
2-4pm with Kultar Ahluwalia
There are clear links that a strong sense of one’s identity leads to improved health, well-being, resilience and relationships. Likewise, there is a healing power in self-expression. Much of acclaimed hip hop artist Kultar Ahluwalia’s work has revolved around autobiographical storytelling. In this workshop, Kultar will guide participants through themes of identity, self-expression and storytelling and how to make all of this work cohesively to the rhythm of a beat. Whether you are a poet, an essayist, or a lyricist, this session will teach you how to translate the quiet thoughts on your page into a breathing, rhythmic performance that resonates on the stage and beyond.
